Clifford E. Carroll

Carroll, 81, died Friday, March 16, 2018, at Evergreen Community in Olathe, Kan.He was born Jan. 12, 1937, in Willow Springs, Mo., to John and Roxie (York) Carroll. He married  Bridgette (Overton) Lee and together they had one child, Lorraine. He later married “his sweetheart” Ruth (Potterf) Carroll and were blessed with 32 years of marriage. She preceded him in death. He later married Charlotte (Carlson) Gaskill-Carroll. She also preceded him in death.Clifford served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He then worked as a machinist for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad from 1966-1993. Clifford was a devout Christian, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and helper to all who needed him. He was a member of First Church of God for many decades, and served his church faithfully. Clifford was a sports enthusiast, he especially loved the St. Louis Cardinals and Missouri Tigers. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing and refereeing church league softball and volleyball. Later in life, he was an avid golfer and bowler, and made many special memories with friends over the years. He loved travelling, especially to attend the Carroll family reunions. He will be lovingly remembered for his kind and gentle nature, and deep love of God and family.He is preceded in death by parents, John and Roxie Carroll, brothers Richard (Maggie) Carroll and David Carroll, sister Neta Owens, wife Ruth Carroll and wife Charlotte Carroll, daughter Lorraine Rauch, step-daughter Barbara Allen and grandson Tyler Smith.He is survived by his granddaughter Amber (Michael) Randall of Kansas City, grandson Hunter Smith of Newton, great grandchildren Jackson, Madison, Emerson Randall and Westyn Smith, step daughters Pam Mayberry, Vicki (Russ) Johnson, step sons Jeff (Rachel) Gaskill, Ron (Roberta) McGlachlin, his brothers Charles (Helen) Carroll of Willow Springs, Mo., John Wendell (Tammy) Carroll of Pampa, Texas, sisters Shirley Custer of East Peoria, Ill., and Helen (Wayne) Hoffman of Morton, Ill., and many oth...
